So the art of it is the feel from the head coach on the environment that you're calling that play.
Like what is the reason you're calling it on that down and distance?
And that's what we get to evaluate on Monday.
So in my point of view, it was the right call for that game.
Two things about that.
First of all, it's a scoring league.
Everything favors the offense.
The second thing, it allows you to call a different play on second and third down.
So you can run the ball on third down and get it closer if you're going to go for it on fourth.
So you can, as a play caller, it just gives you an extra down.
And what are most of these coaches?

play callers yeah offensive side of it yeah so you know do you think at the at the start of a drive they're already thinking we're probably gonna go if we get a fourth we're probably gonna go for it they're not deciding that on fourth down down and distance where you're on the field no if we're on this yard line and it's fourth and one we're going for it yeah they'll know that still got to make a decision and go oh my gosh my guard just went out
I can't call it now.
The reason we get to evaluate and you make a good question and a good analysis is because that's what head coaches do.
