So I got to audition.

I did a workshop over a weekend.

And I remember looking around and going, well, there's some very attractive young people here and there is also me.

And I thought, wow, like a lot of the guys were, oh, okay, if it's that sort of show.

And at the end of it, I remember the boss at the time walked me to my car and it was a Sunday night and he said, hey, listen,

listen, we're going to offer you a contract tomorrow for probably about six months.

I was like,

Sorry, what?

And that, oh, okay, really?

And I remember it was a Sunday night because on the Monday, mum and dad came with me and we signed a contract and we went and had sausage rolls to celebrate.

How old were you, James?

So I would have been maybe 19, yeah, 18.

Maybe he was still 18.

I think still 18.

Yeah.

I mean, obviously money not a problem for the guns when the sausage rolls are coming out.

So, yeah, and that was just – that was a six-month contract that has –

Well, sort of rolled over a few years now.

Yeah, so After School was there and Thingy was there before me, just before me.

And then I had to go to Auckland because they deemed, you know, I'm in Christchurch at the stage where a lot of children's television was made.
