It is.
It's been a bit of a trip for me because I don't have children myself.
So I think that my perspective on this and what I've learned may be helpful to some of your listeners who are thinking about having children.
It's a no-brainer for the parents out there that childcare is expensive.
And what I've learned looking at the data is just exactly how expensive it is.
And more, I guess, more interestingly, why things are expensive and why they are different in different countries as well.
So I'm hoping we can dig in a little bit there.
But like, I'm going to get a bit of guidance from you as well.
So for the listeners without kids, I guess, look at the situation through my eyes, because I've been really curious about child care.
It's not a lot that I know about rearing a child, but I've got the numbers in front of me.
It's huge.
So what we're looking at here is that it's the biggest, it's the third biggest household cost behind groceries and housing.
So what those of us without kids don't really understand is just how much parents put into, it's like a second mortgage effectively.
And it really is still an investment in your family's future.
But it's massive.
It's big.
So in Australia, we're seeing that people are on average paying about $900 a month on childcare.
in New Zealand is about $800.
