And so and then some of the themes are there.
So like the basic the structure of the show is that Tony Soprano winds up getting sent to the psychiatrist to try to explain his panic attacks and try to do something about them.
And that's what the premise of the first episode is.
And that's when we start to learn about him and his relationships and his kind of like all the things that he has to deal with on a day to day basis, his mother, his kids, his wife, his uncle, etc.
The biggest thing that happens in this first episode is that, at least on the mob side of things, is that his uncle Junior wants to whack little pussy Malanga, not to be confused with big pussy Bump and Sarah.
Totally different guys.
Yeah.
In his childhood friend Artie's restaurant, Vesuvio.
And after failing to get Artie out of town on a cruise ship with tickets provided by the Dental Association through Tony's work with the unions.
That scene is so great.
And Chris is just eating a meatball in the kitchen, a single meatball on a plate.
So good.
Tony eventually sends Syl to burn down Artie's restaurant so that Junior cannot carry out the hit there because Tony somehow figures that he will save Artie's business by destroying it, which again is a theme throughout.
Sort of.
Artie has trouble getting the insurance money, but yes.
This idea of, like, destroying things.
All Tony does is destroy things.
And then, of course, the biggest, the denouement of this episode and the climax of this episode is AJ saying, what, no fucking Ziti now?
Which I think is the classic Sopranos line.
And yeah, there's a lot to take away in this pilot episode.
