And so it's very important for them to be seen as kind of like discriminated against.
There's an episode much later on, a controversial episode that specifically deals with this idea of anti-Italian discrimination, which is very, very interesting to look at.
Another theme that the show tackles throughout the season and throughout the entire show is one that you can see through the other subplot of this episode, the other major plot of this episode, which is Chris Moltisanti and Brendan Filone hijacking Junior's trucks.
my favorite line why can't you be nicer to brendan perfectly delivered i know he dies but like jesus brendan is unlikable yeah um yeah if anyone on this show deserved to get whacked this is kind of a two episode story it also goes into the next episode denial anger acceptance and yeah brendan brendan is just a total fuck up and chris is kind of a semi fuck up as well um brendan is this meth head just kind of like impulsive yeah
Yeah, just a total sleaze ball.
And I think it plays into another theme that the show tackles, which is that the younger generations just are total fuck-ups.
And there's just nobody who is...
Who's coming up today that isn't just like an entitled, just like lazy, wants to take shortcuts, scumbag.
And it's interesting seeing the contrast between the older folks who are also entitled and lazy, but are at least a little bit more competent.
And the people who just probably just because of the way in which they were grown up and the fact that they were grown up kind of coddled and a little bit more privileged than Tony and his generation, I think they were destined to fail from the beginning.
We see this more, most explicitly in AJ Soprano, but Chris and Brendan are good examples of that as well.
In this next episode, Denial, Anger, Acceptance, we see Brendan continue to hijack trucks.
Junior eventually kills him.
Great line from our boy, Mikey Palmese, who says, hijack, hijack.
uh just kind of one of the worst characters mike i mean the best worst characters what it's one of those lines that again makes the entire thing just feel kind of dreamy there are a lot of lines in general that uh make it all feel dreamy also a great line in this episode is uh is when junior is eating uh dinner with mikey and he's like like
hold it cool it we're not making a western here uh which i think is is kind of a another one of those lines that you can extrapolate and be like oh yeah this entire show uh people think it's gonna be just like characters getting whacked constantly uh but no we're not making a western here um anyway this episode also we see the chassidic the chassidim uh chassidim but i don't believe him
And Tony and his pals deal with those guys.
It's a fun little subplot.
And Meadow gets speed and sings in the choir.
