Only 13% of Maine Democrats said Mr. Plattner was too far to the left in a New York Times presidential poll, Siena poll.
And it's true that Plattner wasn't DSA.
DSA wouldn't have endorsed him.
He wouldn't have got through the process, given his biography.
But his policies were, except for, I don't know, I don't even know where the DSA is at on guns, but not different from DSA.
And yet he wasn't considered too far to the left, mainly because...
When people are responding to those polls and the Democrats are too far left, they mean they're too professional class scolding and superior to them.
The people that are to blame for the Democratic Party brand being considered too liberal are the people who are, for instance, saying Abdul Al-Sayed is a misogynist.
I think the problem is the state convention can get out of control if you don't have the numbers.
And I think the Democrats are probably in a worse state now without looking than they would have been in 2012.
I mean, generally we agree.
I just think, I mean, I'd be interested if you have some sort of a source, a recent updated argument that the state convention route is the way to go.
