We're starting off the show again with another ice killing because in Florida there was another encounter with federal immigration officials that ended in. somebody's death. And we still don't know the identity of this man.
They have said that he was a man that was in his 20s. That's basically all we know at this point. And in Florida, apparently, Homeland Security Investigations, which is a part of ICE now, had what they describe as an encounter with four men in a vehicle a parking lot that was near a very busy road in saint augustine florida and when ice was approaching this vehicle the four men according to the agents fled and one of them ran into the road and was struck by a semi truck and he died at the scene So in response to this, ICE went out and said, okay, we're going to halt traffic stops. That was the directive. Trump goes on True Social this morning and is like, no, you're not. There's still been no accountability for the killings of Alex Preddy and Renee Good.
And all of the other people that have been killed by ICE, 11 is the count. Or no, 12 now, if you're including this traffic incident in Florida. It could barely keep track under Trump 2.0, let alone the dozens of deaths that we know of in ICE detention. um and this is just kind of uh we should step back for a second and talk about the role of traffic stops in this country where armed police in addition to ice agents are stopping individuals leading to escalatory violence that shouldn't have to um be occurring you know there have been studies on this about how police stops that are related to traffic incidents uh result disproportionately in deadly situations specifically also for people of color black people in particular black people are 12 of the u.s population and they're a quarter of those killed in traffic stops um and so like this is just a federal federalizing of
