There was a certain scene on it where it was, we called it, in the previews and in rehearsals, we called it the canister catch.
I'm not sure what it was in the actual film, but it was a point where Ryan was running along the top of the hole.
He's got to catch this canister.
He had to physically throw it to him.
The operators had to move him forward, up, along, and then Ryan had to catch it whilst being in a spin ring, which is super awkward anyway.
How they filmed it was like they wanted it to look like one take.
So we were in Salisbury in the middle of a field somewhere and they had actually dug the trenches and they'd been waiting for a day just to get the lighting correct.
to be able to carry on filming because they wanted it to look seamless.
That perspective of getting the timing right and then how long the takes were and what was going on whilst the takes were happening, you know, for the part that I played in it,
They took the camera, which was handheld, from a woods that they were talking about in camp, out of the woods onto the front line, into the trench.
The camera then got taken, put onto a super techno crane.
The crane then skated along 100 feet
along the trenches it then got taken off again and then walked over to another part so there was loads of moving moving parts on that film and explosions going off everywhere the grip department and a couple of the operators actually had to dress up in costume because as they were handing the camera off they would be seen
So then they would sort of like, you know, as they sort of hand past them, they were all dressed up in costume.
So half of the guys that were actually in that scene out in the forest and into that part were people working on the film.
Were crew members, yeah.
Insane, you know.
But it's just such a massive, massive production and very ambitious to try and get it to look like it's one shot and have them takes with explosions going off, with people running and...
You know, it's just so much going on and getting the timing right and the lighting right and the time of day right.
