But then I think where people get... I think where people...

I think where people struggle with that analogy is when they imagine a dog that has one, there's only one thing and it's bad and I'm going to try to delete it.

And then the dog is going to be left in this terrible place of not having an option.

And I'm like, one, we can fix that super easy.

First of all, we can avoid that issue by just installing one or two things before, like we give you a couple options.

Cause you're not putting it on extinction.

Oh, and by the way, don't fucking do that.

But even if we're stuck in a moment where I have a dog that won't take any reinforcement, I don't think people realize that punishment in a lot of situations can be the fastest way to get back to reinforcement.

I think people don't understand that punishment very often is the fastest way back to reinforcement.

Because if I go stop doing that and the dog goes, okay, but now what?

I can fill that gap with this and this and this and this and this and this.

Dude, there's so many things available to you once you stop pulling that lever, but you're never going to know they're available if you don't stop pulling that lever.

So this is the thing that always kills me because I'm like, I didn't understand the science either.

I didn't understand until I spent that time with you doing that first course you did.
