It's a fun adaptation.

Yeah, and one other thing worth mentioning is that William Sadler is part of the cast and he plays the main character, David Drayton.

So it's interesting to see him playing a totally different character in Darabont's movie.

I think that in some ways, playing the lead is less interesting than the character he plays in the movie.

I agree that this movie seems on paper it shouldn't be as good as it is.

I I think is is maybe another way of saying what you what you're saying.

And I think one of its biggest strengths is that it is filled with a great cast.

It is good actors bringing a three-dimensionality, a realism, a humanity to characters who in the original

novella were rather two or even one dimensional.

A lot of the the characters beyond the core main characters were so interchangeable and forgettable that they kind of just didn't matter.

They were cannon fodder or they were just uh part of a crowd so that they could be in part of one in-group versus another.

Yeah.

And that's as far as King took it, which I think is a little bit unlike him.

He's usually great at making even momentary characters in a much bigger story feel real and alive.

And I think just having great actors portraying these characters, it changes them and improves them.

I think that's one of the reasons why this this movie works so well for me.

I mean, like Marcia Gay Harden almost made me feel some real sympathy for Carpity.

Almost.
