But I felt like if this was just a normal stereo recording or even a mono recording, I would have enjoyed it probably more.
The performances were good and it shrinks the whole story down to just over one hour of runtime.
Which is less time than it took me to read the original novella.
So it's clearly a a a distillation of the plot.
Yeah.
But one of the things that kept taking me out of it was how literal the adaptation was at times.
In a book, you'll get a description of something, and a character can react to that description of the thing.
Like
There's a tentacle, and it reached under the door, and the tentacle was wet with slime and had a glossy sheen.
And then somebody says, Ah, a tentacle, right?
In in the adaptation for this 3D sound radio drama, somebody like a character gets to say all of that stuff out loud.
Oof to who?
I don't know.
It's another person who's also looking at it.
It's like
Oh no, there's a tentacle, it's coming right for me, and it's wet with slime and and and it's like no one talks that way, no one deals with situations in that way.
It just felt very awkward and unnatural.
That's my main criticism.
But if you're a fan of the book and you're a fan of the movie that we're going to I promise we're gonna come back to talking about, it's worth an hour of your time.
