So it was me, I confess.
But sometimes I wonder if those extenuating circumstances do change the thought a little bit.
And then additionally, Jed, I know that Lovable Reunion has been going on.
I know at last check, you hadn't gotten to watch it yet because you're doing your job and having to also shuffle a lot of people in and out of the bullpen, for example.
But the story about David Ross's contract and Jon Lester and Theo Epstein and Bubz City has been told.
Can you corroborate and what can you tell us about this story?
Well, so number one, you had to have some damage control, it sounds like.
And then number two, have you ever thought about using the beer thumb up, thumb down method ever again when it came to any sort of negotiation?
The exact quote was, Theo's standing there at 2 a.m., and I tell him Ross wants two for six, Lester said.
He doesn't say anything, just starts sipping his beer and holds up his hand, flashing between two and five over and over.
Lester relayed the silent counteroffer, so I go, Rossy, he's saying two for five.
Ross goes, okay, see if you can get me five and a half.
And then he says, all right, I'll take it, five million, but see if you can get me a sweet on the road, end quote.
That too.
Jed, thank you.
Yeah, man.
You would know how to get the negotiation chips in there.
Jed, thank you so much.
We appreciate you taking the time.
A deal.
