So I'm really curious here if he can kind of reset the narrative around what he brings to a lineup and help stabilize the Leafs defensively while also letting some of their forwards play to their strengths.
But I do feel like this is a team, even with McKenna, I would love to see them kind of upgrade that top six, top nine forward group a little bit more, like they could use another center.
maybe get another winger in there because it feels like everything's always on their stars.
And yes, the stars, the pressure is a privilege, but I think you need a little bit more bottom six support.
If you want to be a contender, if you want to compete with the best of the best, like you need to have scoring up and down your lineup.
So that's, that's going to be important this summer.
well the fact that like the trade talk didn't quiet down when the front office made changes the fact that Bradtree living would have had the leeway to trade Matthew knives months away from probably getting fired is even more mind-boggling to me but even if we set all that aside it's it's the idea of what he can bring in return like if I'm Toronto I'm not racing to trade Matthew knives I think he's a very good player I know he set career highs on the score sheet last year
There were some concerns below the surface, right?
His two-way game, he was worse defensively.
He didn't do enough below the surface offensively.
I don't know how much of that is Craig Berube's fault, right?
Like, we saw how much he suppressed this team's offense over the years, and I think it just wore on the players.
So naturally, like his game takes a step back.
And so do some of his comps.
Like you look at the similar seasons that players had a year ago to Matthew Knight's game at that age to what happened last year.
And it changes.
But there's still some really positive outcomes like Timo Meier, right?
And guys like Rick Nasher on his comp list.
And you know, okay, that could be worth investing in for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
