But if we remember back in John chapter twenty one, verse seven, eventually Peter would see the risen Jesus from a fishing boat and would throw himself into the sea to pursue him.
It turns out that the road of his life didn't lead to nowhere.
It ultimately led to someone.
to the risen King Jesus.
And here in our passage that concludes John's gospel account, we're brought into a conversation between Peter and Jesus, a dialogue that shows us the great hope that meets people at their dead end.
As we approach God's Word together, let's pause and ask for his grace to move through this special time that we've got with one another.
Heavenly Father, we do thank you for the gift of life and breath.
And we thank you for your word that we can encounter it together as your people.
We bring before you every part of our lived experiences here in this moment.
We bring before you our joys and our sorrows, our anxiety, our excitement, our calendars, and our contingencies.
God, meet us in this space.
We need you.
Jesus, help us abide in you as we engage with your truth.
And Holy Spirit, we ask you to move in and through this time in John's gospel account.
As we read your living word.
May it read us and restore us to new life with you.
