There's something about the dead end that just doesn't feel right.
Now, what do you do when it feels like your life is on a road to nowhere?
When it feels like there's a strange shadow that's cast over your relationship with God or other people.
When it feels like your faith has hit an absolute dead end.
Now you could feel like you're stuck on the road to nowhere for a lot of different reasons.
For some of us, it might be persistent suffering or the nagging presence of doubts that you can't seem to shake.
It could be a weird relational or spiritual drought where you feel isolated from God and from others.
And for some of us, our road to nowhere is paved with the tragic realities of hidden sin and heavy shame.
I wonder if there are ways that you're experiencing your own road to nowhere in life right now.
You might look very alive.
You might even look like you're flourishing to other people on the outside.
But in the interior of your heart, you know that you've hit a dead end.
It can feel like the only place you're going is the road to nowhere.
Like the dead end is the thing that defines you.
In the final scene of John's gospel account, we see a surprising encounter at one man's dead end: the Apostle Peter, the confident, proud follower of Jesus who denied Jesus three times before he went to the cross.
Peter, the bold disciple who abandoned Jesus and then wept bitterly.
It seemed like the dead end defined him for good.
