I think that can be led by the athletes who have already done it, who have already making the professional money, as opposed to the young people who, yes, they have an opportunity, and yes, they have some leverage, but leave that on the folks that have done it
and are making the money or have made the money in professional sports.
They ain't came to put the handcuffs on me yet, you know what I'm saying?
So I think what the representative said, what Representative Pearson said is true, is that it has to be a collective effort.
And what I didn't initially like about when this idea kind of started floating out there in the atmosphere is that everybody was speaking in a day.
They need to do this.
They need to do that.
These athletes.
And I'm like, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
This is all of our problems.
And because we have not exercised that collectivism, this is why when athletes do make these stances, they tend to feel alone and they get ostracized and then there's no support for them whatsoever.
And so what I would say is that they have to see this all as an entire ecosystem.
Even though Syracuse is not in the middle of this, but I'm thinking about the multimillion dollar donation that Carmelo Anthony gave to Syracuse University.
And so many of these athletes give back to their universities with their money, with their time.
If you are in a state that is essentially executed a hostile takeover of black political power, then you need to stop giving your money and you need to make it known why, both privately and publicly, if you are
a former athlete, if you are a booster, if you are any of these layers of people, you need to also exercise whatever leverage you have to make sure that they understand, hey, this is unacceptable.
And we don't anticipate or we our expectation is that you will take a much bigger role in this fight.
LSU, for example, Gary Chambers Jr., who I know you all know, he pointed this out and I was unaware of this, is that the same dude that is channeling George Wallace, talking about how he is going to vote against or vote for these clearly discriminatory voting maps now forever, you know, channeling those same words today, tomorrow, forever.
However, George Wallace said it.
