We've done some amazing things in this organisation.
And when I look at what's required at Netball New Zealand into the future, I think my skills and experiences are going to be really helpful to ensure that we're able to ensure the sport and the organisation reaches its full potential into the future.
I think there's a different purpose and there's also different commercial drivers.
So Active is all about ensuring that young people missing out on the benefits of sport are involved in sport.
If I look at Netball New Zealand, it's the whole remit of sport.
So ensuring that we've got a really thriving grassroots game that at the high performance end that we've got our silver ferns and our elite competition doing incredible things there.
Obviously there's huge commercial pressures in sport in general at the moment and that'll be a big focus of mine coming into the role.
So I think there's absolutely differences but throughout my career I have worked in all aspects of sport and business and I'll be able to bring those skills together in this particular role.
Well, I think the organisation, from the outside looking in, the organisation's done a lot of reflecting over recent times.
You will have seen that Alice Decker-Ruthers has recently been appointed as chair of the board.
I understand they're very close to announcing some new board members that will be joining the board shortly.
The board and I will need to make sure that there is a really clear strategy in place.
The board will obviously hold me to account with that strategy.
And I'm absolutely convinced that we can ensure that the sport is able to reach its potential into the future.
If I didn't believe that, I wouldn't have taken on the role.
I think they made a really smart decision in making sure that the CEO and the chair appointments were staggered.
So the CEO recruitment process started via one recruiter, and the chair process started via another recruiter, and the final stages of the CEO recruitment process
Alastair Carruthers joined that panel.
So for me going through the CEO process, I had clarity on who the chair was going to be and who I was going to be working with into the future.
And that was a really important consideration for me.
