And it did mean that some women might be nudged over the 12 week.

I mean, you know, oftentimes in my own case, my first pregnancy, I didn't even have a hint that I was pregnant until I was eight and a half weeks.

So every minute and every day counts if you're thinking about having a termination.

So, you know, people were very opposed to the three day wait.

And interestingly, Ellen Coyne wrote a really good piece about this yesterday.

And she said it was the only significant part of the 2019 law that was never tested or scrutinized by the Citizens Assembly or on the on the Eighth Amendment or by the Joint Oireachtas Committee on it afterwards.

So it came purely it was an invention by politicians.

And I think it was introduced to solve the fears of some very high profile politicians who had concerns and had doubts.

And it was in particular, I think Simon Coveney is the one that everybody thinks of in this regard now.

Because he was really struggling to support the repeal legislation for personal reasons.

And like I would be a big believer in everybody, you know, has a right to have their own point of view on this.

And, you know, you can't blame him for that.

If he had his own his own views, they wouldn't necessarily.

I know that they wouldn't be your views, but he did have big concerns about it.

And it was this idea of a three day wait that won him over, this idea of a pause period of between 48 and 72 hours between when an abortion was sought.

Now, a lot of women, and I would be one of those, find that idea really patronising.

I think if you go and you sit down in front of a GP and you say,

I want to have an abortion.
