And it's a great way for you to get up and start having that experience of sharing your work in front of an audience on stage.
Yeah.
Once you have some more experience in that, then there are other opportunities leading up to it.
You probably aren't going to start out doing a one-hour show.
You might have to build up to that.
So Jem, we're just about out of time and we're going to get one more poem from you before you go and again I do recommend catching Jem if he's performing live in a city near you but we're very lucky to have this bit of you recorded now even though we don't have any of your books in the library at least we've got your voice in the library for people to listen to
I know something that is often widely debated, has certainly been widely debated on Facebook recently in response to a sort of article statement that you had written on this theme, is what are the advantages of performing on stage without the written word in front of you, without reading from a book or a piece of paper, versus...
reading from a piece of paper so I be one of the people who I think I see the benefits of both and I I tend to feel that I need a bit of paper because again as I said I I don't feel confident enough usually when I'm trying to memorize things though I do find when I do things more and more that I become almost they they're very much stuck in my head and I can
leave the page more, but it would be great before we go to hear your thoughts on that as well.
It's really important.
Certainly, I would say that, you know, if you haven't tried it, you should give it a go and see what happens.
But, yeah.
And yeah, I think you should imagine Jem sort of sailing off down a river through this steamy Amazon as you hear this poem.
