New claims for unemployment benefits rose by just 5,000 in the week ending March 21st to 210,000.
The number matched the forecast from economists.

Fewer people signed up for unemployment benefits in the week ending March 7th.
New claims declined by 1,000 to 213,000.
Economists were expecting a slight increase to 215,000.
And those remaining on benefits also declined in the week ending February 28th to 1.85 million in the range economists were predicting.
The Federal Reserve meets next week.
It is watching any impact of higher oil prices and whether the job market is softening as it decides whether to lower interest rates.
