American Express says it will build a new state-of-the-art global headquarters in New York City.

Construction will start this spring.

The skyscraper will be located at Two World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan at 200 Greenwich Street.

It'll be the only occupant and sole owner of the 55-story building.

Amex says the property can accommodate up to 10,000 staff and will feature more than an acre of outdoor space with sweeping views of the Manhattan skyline.

The construction is expected to create more than 3,200 direct and indirect jobs.

Amex expects the new building to be completed in 2031.
