Sure.
My name is Jenny.
I'm the coordinator with Open Valley Urban Eco-Sanctuary.
We umbrella under the Valley Project.
I'm an ecologist and environmental educator, which means that in my role I get to work with a wide variety of ages, from kindergarten all the way up to residents of Ross Home.
We get to do quite a broad range of initiatives, environmental projects.
I also am currently the acting manager for Valley Project, so I'm still wrapping my head around that and getting the feel of the ropes for that one.
So I'm kind of learning as we go f go along for that.
And Claire?
Well, the Valley Project, it's a community-led uh organization at its heart.
Um it was esta established to um build a stronger, more connected, resilient community, a place where people want to live.
Um way back before twenty ten, uh there was a need that was observed that people were needing to have
More of a connection and uh that connection needed to be established.
And so Northeast Valley Normal School was actually uh paramount and instrumental in establishing the Valley Project and to create that kind of space where and that kind of community where people wanted to live.
And now Valley Project uh it's it encompasses uh quite a few initiatives, things like environmental rest.
uh community events, food resilience, uh waste reduction, youth activities, um are simply just a way of helping neighbors connect to each other.
Mm-hmm.
Um we're there as a space to to build that support and that connection amongst the community.
So it began as a charitable trust.
Um I believe it was twenty ten, twenty eleven, around that time.
