I mean, London, you know, if you stop moving in the street, you get turned into a flat.
Everything's turned into flats.
And here they said, but once, look, let's just do some houses around the area.
used the money from that to build essentially flats for birds, or at least some living accommodation for our wildlife.
And then in the 80s, this is the end of the Thatcher decade, so it's a very kind of hard-bitten decade where we were all into economics, where you'd say, if you've got land, you've got to sell, make it flats and houses.
And then, of course, then a load of people said, well, no birds will live there.
So then it's going to be empty.
And it very nearly didn't happen.
It was this great naturalist, Sir Peter Scott, who said, come on, let's do it.
I don't even know why the birds don't fly away.
I think they must like it.
They're all there in the middle of London.
