silenced for so long uh and you know obviously through the court process and then um to finally be able to do that you know um it's it's been empowering but it's also been a little bit terrifying because as it's not just about what was done to me you know it's also more than that you know it's it's it's who I am now and and those things and and

How you speak about that, I think also, you know, especially publicly can be reframed very differently.

So, you know, but, you know, I have a voice now and I am speaking it and I'm just doing it carefully.

Yeah, I guess, firstly, to be honest, I'm not just a headline.

You know, I think that's the key, you know, and I think that's the key for many victim survivors that actually speak out that, you know, there's so much more to me, you know, and I really want to embrace that and I want other people to understand that.

Yeah, I think from the outside people were seeing a successful junior athlete.

You know, I think that they were seeing somebody that was incredibly driven and that was, you know, winning these races because, you know, I...

wanted to win those races and of course there was that element of you know wanting to to to win them but it was so much more complicated than that you know because of what was happening um you know behind the scenes um and i think that message i think you know what you've just discussed there is exactly that you know what what you see on the outside is not necessarily what's going on you know or in my case absolutely not what was going on behind closed doors so yeah

You know, when you're every aspect of your life.

is controlled, you know, by your abuser.

You know, so, you know, coach, father, you know, teacher.

I did not have any, I guess, other adults in my life or anything like that that was a good role model.
