And that's, I think, the biggest thing here is that people have to realise is that, you know, when you're going in to do your statement, you know, or you're going in to report something, you know, majority of the time, you know, the actual perpetrator is still out there, you know, and what came next that,
10 year long process of not knowing whether he would stay behind bars was absolutely terrifying each time and you know I remember it took three months for me to do my statement and each time you know I they would take me around the back the back way I'd have to go through the back way you know because he was having to go in and report in the front
And that dynamic, that tension, yeah, it was absolutely terrifying.
Yeah, it was definitely a bit of a build-up before that.
You know, there was an incident that had happened that the police had got involved and I got to a point where it wasn't just about me anymore.
You know, it was about the community and also I started to...
that there's a point where surviving something, then speaking out.
become stronger because you can no longer just continue to survive and reaching that like pinnacle point of going no matter what happens I need to do this because I cannot continue to to live with this you know because this this man no matter what he is my father the fact is that he has done this and you know and the same with my mother you know and that
that itself was a dynamic that was incredibly hard.
But, you know, yeah.
it was scary.
Again, I, I think it was just that focus point of, I need to get this done and not thinking about kind of what's next, you know?
And I think that that's how I've actually, it was in a sense, a different type of survival, you know?
Um, and I think that's the thing with, with, you know, getting out of, of an, an escaping trauma and then,
the post-trauma, you know, post-traumatic stress disorder, actually then living with trauma, but then being re-traumatised by what is actually happening, you know, and that is a different type of survival.
And that was that needing to get done what I needed to do to...
maybe at some point, you know, back then, try and actually start to have a life that I deserved, you know, not knowing that what I had ahead of me at that time, you know, not knowing that how long things were going to take.
And of course, I was naive to that, you know, and it was hard, but I, the moment that, you know, that the police actually started, you know, to investigate, you know, there was, there was that sense of that people were actually behind me.
And, you know, that
That was incredible.
