And I just think how, how can anybody let alone your own parents do that, you know, and, but that, that, that is then what gives me strength is to, you know,

why I'm doing this, you know, why I'm sharing my story and why, you know, I'm sitting here today.

Okay, well, firstly, this is actually the first time that I will be publicly letting people know that I do have dissociative identity disorder.

It is a very misunderstood diagnosis, you know, and I think that we have a long way to go, you know, as a society with DID.

And it's, to be honest, it's really terrifying to tell people about it, you know, the stigma that comes with it.

But in actual fact, it,

I'm starting to accept that it is part of me.

Yes.

And it is also... It was my mind's way of surviving beyond things that were beyond what any human, what any should survive.

And, you know, now in my adult life, I can now see how those certain...

you know, alters and certain, you know, survival parts have really kept me alive.

But it is also incredibly exhausting.

And look, there is a lot of incredible research and academia out there now that it is basically...

dissociative identity disorder equals extreme child abuse, you know, and you're not born with it.

You know, it's not organic.

It is the brain's way of wiring to survive.

You know, we all have that capacity to dissociate.

You know, we all zone out.

You know, the mind has that ability, you know, but it's in order to cope and to be able to

survive though that ongoing repetitive abuse for years and years the mind and the brain almost separate and start to really you know form form these these different parts that keep that switch in basically you know that are able to to do that and then of course though once they are formed you know you you're with that for the rest of your life so it's not something that
