They genuinely do want to get to heaven.

But that spirit of fear creeps in and tells them, you're not doing enough for God.

Get out there.

And instead of actually going to encourage people, find people that make you feel like a better Christian.

So the fear of going to hell starts to feel smaller.

So rather than looking at themselves and dealing with their own sins, a lot of Pharisees have a lot of skeletons in the closet.

That's the reason that Jesus called them hypocrites, because they say one thing and they do another.

They talk about gossip being a problem, and then they go and spread mass gossip and things like that.

So they are very hypocritical.

One thing they're looking for is somebody that could be perceived as worse than them, and they'll go for anything.

your clothing the way you speak ah yes you're not a real christian let me present myself as a real christian by shaming you so the attention in the spotlight goes on you and i can just slip away over here yeah you have an eye in your logo yeah that's like the base that's the base attack where you get you have an eye in your logo you're you guys are masonic it's like okay

You'd be surprised, honestly.

And I have so much respect for people that can look at themselves and go, do you know what?

I've got a problem.

I've got to sort this out.

That is a humble heart.

That is the definition of humility, which is the fruit of the spirit.

God tells us he rejects the proud.

Now, why does he reject the proud?

Because people that are operating in self-righteousness and pride of themselves, they don't care about hearing God because they believe they are God.
