gave him some gauze even he didn't even need gauze he just needed a band-aid but he was he felt like he needed gauze and tape and then we used duct tape right so anyways you could leave the first aid kit at home and but like i said experienced backpackers are the least likely to do this but probably the most okay like the ones who could actually justify not bringing because they know how much first aid they actually have used over the years you only need a few things right

But I have backpacked with people who have left their, I was always shocked.

And I started calculating the things that they relied on me to bring, which was first aid kit, bear spray, the map, a few other things that I started.

It's like a compass, just an emergency compass.

I was like, oh, I have all these like backup gear that we need just in case.

And they don't even think about it.

I don't want.

so proud of you years ago that was when i first came on this podcast that was my whole thing was that i thought your guys is like you trying to tell everyone what to bring it's just every backpacker should be a solo backpacker it is the best thing to do and then that way you own your own responsibilities if you're backpacking and you don't have first aid kit it's on you you made that decision move on it can't be somebody else's fault right and so i just i'm all for that

You said leave the filter at home, and then he gave you an argument that made you say, okay, you're right, I need to bring my filter.
