And it was it was kind of embarrassing to have to walk into walk into coach's office and say, Hey, I'm new at this.
I wanna do this for a long time.
I promise I'm not gonna you know, I I don't even really have that kind of relationship with them at this like this relationship with them at this point and I wouldn't do anything to jeopardize.
Okay, you know what, come on then, we'll we'll we'll talk.
And the thing is like a lot of coaches don't even give you that much stuff anyway.
Right.
So the whole thing to me with with a with Aikman and with
You know, I don't I'm I'm sure it's in other sports as well, but you know, these rules to sort of try to even the playing field with with Tom Brady and Troyckman to me is is pretty silly.
Our my our job is to be impartial on air, but that doesn't mean we can't hope a team wins.
Every time the Florida Gators play, of course I hope they win.
But when I broadcast games for them, my job is to be impartial.
And if if somebody on the Florida Gators makes a mistake, I have to call that out.
If the other team is winning the game fifty to nothing, I have to praise the other team.
That makes Florida Gator fans really upset because I'm not a homer.
But that's my job.
And I think that's a big reason why I've been able to do this.
Now I'm entering my twentieth year at ESPN.
And why Troy Aikman has had the career he's had and and maybe Tom Brady will have a longevity and a career he's had too.
That's just your job.
