So it seems to be just the main reason why the risky behavior happens is lack of supervision in both apes, us and chimpanzees.
That's the whole point.
That's what a teenager needs to do is they need to find the boundaries.
We're still apes.
We are not that much farther along than chimpanzees, yet we're using the technology that's, like, way more advanced.
So the reason I wanted to talk about this story is because I wanted to talk about Rubin.
Rubin, I think you and I have even talked about it before.
It's this observatory that just opened in mid 2025 after like a decade of, of, of construction.
And it can take this detailed images of the sky, the entire sky once every three nights.
And so one of the things that can do well is, is things that change over time, like asteroids, they move through the sky, they spin and you can, you can track this.
Uh,
We have this idea of what an asteroid should be, and most asteroids we thought are these collections of, they call them rubble piles, where it's collections of loosely collected, not really fused together rocks, but it's like, imagine something the size of a football field, but it's just like a bunch of boulders the size of your car, all sort of crammed together, but not really stuck together.
That's what we think most asteroids are.
collections of rubble.
Yeah, that's a good analogy, yeah.
And gravity holds pretty well, but if you spin it fast enough, then centrifugal forces will push outwards and tear it apart.
And there's a limit to that, like how fast you can spin something.
And so they thought, astronomers just thought that that's the lower limit.
It's like something like two hours of spinning to go all the way around for something the size of like, you know, a kilometer or roughly.
But the Vera Rubin being able to take such detailed imagery of the sky very quickly, very deep, found 19 candidates of these big asteroids, like slightly less than a kilometer in size that are spinning at like the minutes, like less than five minutes, some of them.
