he's compelled by Rooster and he's the main castigator and critic of Rooster.
And as such, he's the lens through which we can see this person as high and low because he worships him, but he's the first to jump in and challenge him that all his stories are bullshit.

He's actually trying to save him.

So almost before Rooster is banished, there's this moment where he banishes Ginger.
It's what's about to happen to him.
