We actually can be rooted in ourselves and happy with where we are.
And so I think that's really important for people who, you know, maybe they're in a relationship that they wake up every day and they're like, what am I doing?
But they're afraid to leave for whatever reason.
They're afraid that that relationship brings them something they can't bring to themselves.
They're afraid that career with all of its glamour and success marks won't, you know, without it, they won't be happy anymore.
When really that might be the thing that is taking them away from their happiness, that's taking them away from who they really are.
And so it's really important to understand who you are and know that it might not make sense to people outside of you.
When I left neuroscience, everybody was like, what are you doing?
Mm-hmm.
They were like, you just left a fellowship.
You just left a stipend.
Like, everything was paid for.
You know, my parents were happy.
They were telling all their friends.
Like, everybody was like, what are you doing?
People thought I was crazy.
But I knew that I was not happy.
I understood that.
And I was young enough.
I always say, well, I was like 23, so I didn't have kids.
