Why aren't you doing that?

You should do more of it.

And sometimes I think we're not tough enough.

You know, I think we could be a lot.

Obviously, we could be a lot harder on.

Donald Trump than we are right now, maybe not us included, but but the White House press corps.

But a lot of this is it's on these executives, people like Barry Weiss, you know, who are they're just they're just getting away with everything, it seems.

Yeah.

I didn't invent that, but I did say it, yes.

I know.

And when I lost my press pass, when they took my press pass away in the first term, we had, you know, we had the company's backing.

Obviously, that was a different day and era.

But we had a whole team and they hired outside lawyers.

They hired the best lawyers in the business.

They hired Ted Olson, who argued Bush v. Gore.

as one of my lawyers and i was like holy how did i get ted olsen as my lawyer this is amazing and i you know i remember him saying jim we're going to win this case don't worry i was like okay i'll take it from you because you're ted olsen but we don't have that in independent media the other thing we don't have don is we don't have the resources of 60 minutes i worked at cbs years ago and this was back in the mid 2000s and they would tell me it would cost 60 000 to do one 60 minutes piece that's a lot of money

and i'm sure it's way more now and so independent media has a role and it serves a great purpose and it's a wonderful thing that's happening but we don't have the resources to go out and do a long-form journalism piece in the way that 60 minutes does now maybe things will change maybe the next year or two you'll see

some of us joining forces, and you'll see larger entities taking shape that can do that kind of work.

But right now, the landscape is shifting beneath our feet.
