So you have to leave some powder drive.

So it's a challenging situation, but I think he's been pretty clear and transparent with his thinking to where he can kind of think along with him and kind of understand where he's coming from.

We talked about the last time I was on, Pedro Grafol was so just concerned about

not revealing anything that, you know, Venable on the other side is very transparent.

So you can kind of apply, you can almost think about his moves in advance, which, you know, has some drawbacks probably, but also you understand where he's coming from.

And at least there's a logical through line.

Guess the one drawback of Murakami is that he's a lefty and the White Sox faced three lefties and they struggled against lefties, especially just, you know, the fastball command was pretty good for a totally, uh, and Bennett, especially just, they were spotting the fastball inside corner up and in relentlessly on righties.

By the time they figured it out, uh, the Red Sox went another course, started using the other side of the plates and just the, they really executed the game plan perfectly, uh,

and you know murakami is weaker against lefties so you don't necessarily expect them to help but the presence of instant offense i think especially after a series where they had no extra base hits i think makes them welcome even if the handedness with this athletic series the first two starters will be lefties so they have to continue with that but just having somebody who's another home run threats um

just yeah and given that he handled himself respectably against lefties even if like the average is down a little more strikeouts uh they just need all the help they can get and i think you know murakami's been champing at the bit to get back into it uh and uh the white sox were one game under 500 with them out so i think you have to consider that a victory and then uh hope that murakami can pick up where he left off

Yes and no.

Yes, it's a disappointment because they were in first place in July and the Central doesn't look that tough.

So there's an opportunity here that wasn't grabbed.

Pleasure to be disappointed by that, if that makes sense.

Yeah, it feels good to feel again.

And for games to matter.

And for decisions and player development, individual decisions, individual player...

situations uh individual decisions players make on the field not just venable and the front office but also just how players are processing the game in a in the speed of a major league game that matters and so it's been fun to just set aside all this you know rebuild talk contention windows etc and just focus on the white socks trying to win a game especially these divisional games especially against cleveland where the game's just the implications are so great
