And that's a policy that this government asked the commissioner to implement and is being implemented.

Like if you look around the world in terms of crime rates, you know,

You know, Dublin and Ireland are pretty low on the crime rate statistics.

I had a group of American attorneys general over recently, and when I told them that the number of homicides last year was around the region of 50 in Ireland, they thought I had made a mistake.

And when I told them that there were no gun-related killings last year, they didn't believe me.

Now, that happens because of the excellent work of Inger de Chaconne.

Well, in terms of soundbites, you know, I deal with statistics.

I deal with high visibility policing.

At present, as I said to Mary, we have 14,661 sworn members.

The highest number we ever had in the force was, I think, 14,700.

So by the end of this year...

we will have the highest number of sworn Gardaí in the history of the state, as we should, because our population is increasing.

But on top of that, we have 3,664 staff members who are doing jobs that previously were done by the Gardaí.

I got in the budget last year for Angarda Síochána, they have a separate vote.

I got €2.25 billion for Angarda Síochána.

So they have the resources.

I launched a new recruitment campaign.
