And she would put them up and she would take care of their expenses and bills and fix these kids.

And I noticed my mom was doing this and I started to have some success in the mid 90s.

And so I started, you know, joining my mom and giving a few bucks for it.

Well, pretty soon we said, you know, these hotels are expensive.

Let's buy a house where we could put these people up in a house in Lamont in the Lithuanian neighborhood.

So we bought a house in Lamont, Illinois, and we started bringing over three and four and five, six kids from Lithuania there.

And fixing their bones.

And meanwhile, I'm still doing all the stuff at Jimmy John's.

But this is my journey of philanthropy.

I just want to set the stage.

So we would bring these families over.

And Dr. Lubicki at Shriners Hospital in Chicago, he was the lead surgeon.

And he would all donate it.

And we would take these children and transform them.

and change their lives, and then send them back to Lithuania.

Well, that evolved, and then we said the president of Lithuania got elected.

His name was Valdis Adamkis, and he was a Chicago guy.

that he was also a refugee, moved back to Lithuania.

We actually helped him get elected with funding.

And he was the guy that spearheaded Lithuania becoming part of the European Union.
