If you take it to its very extreme, it's to have a lights out factory, a factory where there are no people working in it.
I don't know where the disbursement of those roles is going to go.
And I don't know that we've ever worked out
One of the things I'd thrown into the discussion last week with the IOD was whether or not we could have a balanced scorecard worked out for kind of trade-offs around at what point does agentic AI become non-value adding if you're losing so many people that the cost of the exchequer of keeping them on some universal basic income is not higher than the cost of keeping them employed and whether or not we're going to have to pay companies to employ people rather than using agents.
But one of the things that actually to go back to the sustainable development goals is peace, justice and strong institutions.
And I don't think it's even now as much about is there a politician who can do it?
Is do we have strong institutions that irrespective of who's in power or, you know, who's what the view of an individual is?
Are the institutions robust enough?
to move and nimble enough and agile enough to deal with this pace of change.
And I think that's institutionally where we are more hamstrung.
It's weird even to take that and even notwithstanding the number of people who will not have entry-level requirements.
If you take that further down the track and you say, then the pool...
is getting smaller and smaller to funnel to the top.
So how are we going to do, you know, let's talk about succession planning, Jim.
That's where you and I first met with Ismay 25 years ago, road showing.
I was talking about succession planning for family businesses.
How are we going to manage succession planning when there's no young ones coming through and that tacit knowledge is not being built up intergenerationally?
And they'll say, oh, we'll program it in.
And then someday the box isn't working.
And that tacit knowledge is all lost or we ran out of power or water or whatever, and it just didn't work anymore.
