The AI, the technology itself is kind of neither here nor there in the context of the people who are driving it.
So Jeff Bezos came out this week and was quoted as saying, you know, look, it's ridiculous that we should kind of
save water for people when we should be spending it on the technology so then we could solve things in the long term.
But it's almost like this human sacrifice.
It's like, oh, well, you know, you pesky humans, you're kind of in the way of what I want to do in developing this other super intelligence.
The technology itself is
is neither here nor there.
You asked me what I was doing in the last couple of weeks.
I also did a webinar with the Institute of Directors on ethical AI.
And I was doing it with Gerard Pardesat and he's far more technologist than I am.
But I was reflecting on
the ethics of AI and ethical AI, and it doesn't actually exist.
Technology is neither ethical nor unethical.
It's the people who are using it that will make ethical choices.
And it struck me that everybody has ethics.
It's just that everybody's ethics are not the same.
And so countries then end up being led, democracies, economies, whichever way you want to call them, societies end up being led by people of varying ethics.
And it would appear now that I am at odds with the ethics of some of the people who are driving this technology.
And I am at odds and uncomfortable with some of the trade-offs that they're prepared to make.
So I think AI, if you're using it to, I'll take a certain amount of environmental cost on the chin.
