Of course, we're all our own people, but without each other, we wouldn't be able to do anything or get anywhere in life.
So for me, it's majorly important if there was any issue, whether it be a mental health issue or
an issue at home or something that someone needs a little help in hand, then please open up.
And for me and where I am now, definitely.
But I think there's thousands of people within the game that would be exactly the same.
I don't think it depends what the issue is you know I think again it depends with everyone could be different the manager could turn around and go I believe you're strong enough I want you to play are you ready to play are you okay and if the player says yes I'm okay then he plays but if the manager turns around and thinks he's got to make a decision doesn't think you're right
in the right frame of mind and he pulls you out okay or he asks you and you say listen again this is where honesty and it's crucial that you're honest in life that you turn around and say I'm not quite in the right frame of mind here that I'm not ready to play and you be honest with yourself I think you just have to be honest in life because if you're not you're never going to get the answer you're never going to maybe
get yourself right so I think that's a collective decision that's yes there could be a little worry if someone opens up with an issue that they may not because they think they might not play on the Saturday but if they've got a big enough issue then they've got to be man enough to turn around and say I'm not quite right for Saturday for the good of himself and for the team so I think there's a fine line with that but there's a balance between it being coming from both ends yourself and who you're approaching and the club itself.
A tough one because, touch wood, I've never felt I've needed to seek help.
quite level headed I've got good family good friends around me and I'm quite open I'll speak and keep myself involved and just that's how I am in day to day life you know but not everyone's the same everyone's different not everyone's got family not everyone's got as many friends and what I would say is that maybe off the top of my head you don't maybe get approached enough maybe someone doesn't call me or approach me within the club in terms of outside the football club to say are you okay do you need help but at the same time
I think if I needed help, there's enough help within the game, whether that be directly from my own football club and colleagues and playing partners as well as the staff.
But I think if I needed to reach out to people within the game, whether that be ex-teammates, managers, staff, whoever it might be I play with, but also the PFA, the FA, from what I can see and what I've heard and the way you get told stuff and see stuff online, there would be help there if you needed it.
