Um and then fast forward on into the seven sixties, seventies, eighties.
We started recognizing that there were some upsides to some of this, but still not really recognizing uh the upside honestly, until was it Judy Singer in the nineties first coined the term neurodiversity.
And started saying, Hey, this is more of a uh this is a a a type of brain wiring.
And there aren't just downsides, there are some really significant upsides to it as well.
Right.
And so we're seeing that more and more now when we when we look at uh you know what types of
Amazing innovative types of thinkers.
Um have contributed to
our our to the human race, uh Einstein and just even looking back through time we see all of that.
But
The medical model.
has provided us with the ability to provide services to a lot of these folks who there are the downsides.
So the medical model has allowed us to diagnose a disorder which is required by insurance companies for services.
And so like I know my daughter
She had the diagnosis of autism at age five.
And that allowed us to get early intervention speech therapy and uh occupational therapy and social skills training and and those types of things that helped reduce the the downside deficits.
But now
She doesn't need those services.
She doesn't, but a lot of people still do.
But we're also seeing a lot of the upsides of her her neurodivergence.
