It was similar to going to a club for the first time, doing drag for the first time.
I kind of threw myself into...
This physical space that made me feel very uncomfortable, but I knew I wanted to and had to do it.
I recognized some faces in the room, people that I'd known and had sort of dropped out of my life.
The hour went by in a complete blur.
There's a lot to take in.
And at the end, I was told to keep coming back.
And I did.
And then I found myself with a 90-day key ring and being so proud about being clean as over for 90 days and having forced myself into this world of recovery.
Powerlessness.
Yeah, yeah.
Step one, it's all about kind of really acknowledging that you have a problem, which was plain to see to myself and everyone around me.
And I think...
when I got a sponsor and I worked the steps, I was kept on step one for a really, really long time, months and months and months.
And I just wanted to, you know, I was just wanting to progress through the steps and get to step 12 so I can get my own sponsees.
And I was told not to rush and I was kept on step one for a really long time.
And I think that that base step is what's kept me sober for such a long time.
