It was all very normal to me because everyone around me was doing it pretty much.
I was just in that party scene.
There was lots of drink, lots of drugs.
It was on offer on a mirror or a plate or a corner of a credit card everywhere I went.
And it just felt very normalized.
I had a few friends that got sober.
They seemed like little beacons of light as I was going into my lowest steps of addiction.
And I woke up one day, 25 years old, 25th of June, 2010.
And the worst hangover of my life, as I said.
And I realized that that can't go on.
That behavior can't go on.
Because I think I realized that I would end up dead.
I went to a recovery meeting two days later.
Yes, yeah, it was NA, yeah.
And one of your friends who was a regular said, come with me.
Absolutely.
And you went together?
Yeah, yeah.
And another place that I put myself in where I'd never been so nervous in my life.
