And I remember being so resentful and so jealous that it really terminated our friendship.

It's something I worked on quite early on in my sobriety.
As I started going through the steps and also started therapy, traditional therapy, I worked on jealousies and resentments.
16 years ago, exactly.
25 years old.
And I woke up one morning and realised, with probably the worst hangover I'd experienced thus far, I realised I can't drink or take drugs anymore.
We were friends, I think, from about four.
And I think Julius Caesar was probably around eight or nine.
Yeah.
I just remember it completely ate me up because he was getting an opportunity to perform and I was rejected.
Mm-hmm.
So rejection has been a theme of my life as well.
Covered wall-to-wall and posters everywhere.
Pop music, Kylie Minogue, boy bands.
At one point, I collected butterflies, and they were in sort of ornate cages.
Oh, cages.
Yeah, live butterflies, yeah.
God.
There was a place that you could order the pupae from, I think a place in East Sussex, and they'd sort of ship them in and you'd have them on cotton wool in the base of this sort of cage and they'd eventually...
