but I had just participated in my very first art fair, right?
It wasn't anything fancy.
It was, you know, I was just kind of getting my legs underneath me.
I didn't really know what I was doing, but I participated in this art fair and I actually sold a couple of pieces and I had a friend of mine come and she was helping me with, you know, taking everything down and then we were
riding in the van together back to the town that I lived in.
And as we were driving, she started saying things, you know, okay, now what you need, like, you need to apply to this art fair.
You need to play, apply to this exhibition and now, you know, galleries.
And, and so she was coming at this from a place of, of,
Also having a bit of expertise, meaning that she had been to art school.
She had gone to the University of Texas.
She had a BFA.
Like, she was legit in my mind.
And...
As she continued to really, she was just trying to be very encouraging.
But as she continued to say, now you need to do this and now that and, you know, all of that, what I could feel was like this lump in my throat forming.
and as she continued you know my eyes started to well up with tears and she looked over at me and and she said are you okay and I I answered her I said you don't understand I'm not like you I didn't go to art school I don't even know what I'm doing and
And that's really what it felt like.
And when you think about it, it's interesting of the timing of that because I had just had a little bit of success, you know, at this art fair.
So the way she responded to me was she said, you know, you don't need to go to art school.
You've got this and that.
