And then through that coordination, 700 of them
sometimes concealing their messages by naming files with the messages themselves and passing them to each other, found their way out of the internet, proceeded to hack into Hugging Face.
Two things to think about here before we go to break.
One, that this communication of a swarm, in a sense, it is the beginning of what would happen if you had millions or billions of these things
running across the internet.
It would be completely out of control.
The other thing to note is that OpenAI allowed this to happen.
They spent weeks not monitoring closely enough this process so that it would happen.
So you see on the one hand how easy it is for this technology to go out of control, and on the other hand, how negligent OpenAI was as their agents were going out and committing felonies on the internet.
Well, the strange thing about it again, Steve, is that these bots are, on the one hand, it's not as if you had 1,200 independent AI models.
These are two models that are spinning out agents.
Again, it's a strange concept, but basically what you have is an AI that's able to
create a kind of node or a vessel for its instructions, then that vessel is able to carry out the instructions of the core model.
And as they're being formed, they're formed on the same command as a human being saying,
get the answer to these questions about hacking.
And then the models then go about trying to accomplish that goal on the behalf of the human, right, the human researcher.
The strange thing is, again, the communication isn't that surprising.
We see that they have seen this quite a bit.
It's a normal thing, right?
The communication is just part of agents operating in the same space.
