Like we had enough to pay our bills.
And it's not like there was a lot left over each month.
And so me like on a whim spending money on a hobby was not necessarily super characteristic.
I had not told my wife I was there either, which is a pro marriage tip.
Said no married man ever.
Yeah, that's right.
And so I'm at the store and we get to the very end and they're like, all right, you can either buy a panel of leather.
So, you know, think like a rectangle pre-cut piece, kind of big enough to make one journal, or you can buy an entire side of leather, you know, picture the cow cut right down the middle.
In this case, it was a bison.
And I was like, man, what, what the heck?
Let's go for it.
And so, yeah, I bought a side of bison leather, a bunch of tools.
Yeah, I think I spent $299 in change.
I remember it was just under 300, which again, I mean, that's a lot of money today.
It was a ton of money for us back then.
And I drive home and I walked in front of our front window carrying it.
A really good friend of ours was over and she kind of now infamously said, is that a cow?
Which my wife, again, not knowing what I was doing, she's like, oh gosh, what's Joe doing this time?
And yeah, I walked in the front door and that was May of 2018 is when Daily Goods was born.
