It starts on the 18th of June when an open AI agent hacked...
the Australian medical system, Medicare.
And it all started like a lot of these stories with an internal test that went wrong.
So there was some sort of statistical analysis that these AI agents were tasked with by OpenAI to go off and do some research, some deep, deep research about Australia.
And they found a website on the Medicare web system that gave them some details, but they wanted more.
But that more was behind some sort of a barrier, maybe a login portal, that kind of thing.
And the AI agents found a way to hop over that fence and gain access.
Illegally, it is a cyber attack to breach that network.
Months later, that's part of the anger from the prime minister that we hear today.
They didn't find out until he didn't find out until early September.
And OpenAI didn't find out that it happened until August.
and then notified the Australian Medicare system.
didn't go to the National Cyber Security Center of Australia.
They didn't go to the government of Australia.
They sent an email to the general system that monitored this particular part of the network of the Australian Medicare server.
And they didn't follow it up.
They sent a single email months after it happened.
And that is why...
A lot of anger is being aimed at OpenAI because it's called disclosure in cybersecurity.
