Here's what I remember my father saying.
He told me that, Joel, you know, when you're talking with franchise candidates and they bring up that word partner, tell them, first of all, that they really, really need to think it through.
And the second thing they need to do is immediately, immediately, once they decide they found a, quote, partner, get to a lawyer and write a partner agreement up.
Because when they get to a lawyer, that is where the rubber meets the road.
Because the spouses are going to have to get involved with their spouses, and they're going to have to learn about each other's financial situations and get it all up front.
And if they can go far enough down the road to at least get a legal document up and running that they're a real partnership, then you might have something.
But, I mean, Paul, how many people have you and I met with over the years that have said, well, I'm thinking about partnering with a da-da-da-da-da-da-da, you know, and they didn't even talk to the person?
