But I do think there's a way forward in that Trump could appoint a special master or assign someone to oversee the funds and provide emergency funding.
And the FEMA funding that's run out, that's emergency money.
That's not really broader rebuilding money.
That is money that's going to neighbors and friends who lost everything.
everything, have no other means of supporting themselves in some cases.
And
That shouldn't be caught in a political fight.
That should not be
something that depends on whether the governor is a Democrat or a Republican.
I'll give you another story.
There were wildfires recently in Spokane, Washington, several weeks ago.
And as it happens, Washington State is a blue state, but Spokane is on the eastern side of the mountains.
And basically, when you're on the eastern or dry side, the leeward side of the mountains, you're into conservative territory.
The windward side, the rainforesty Seattle side, that's liberal territory, the coastal side.
But the interior is Republican.
And Spokane and the areas around it had serious wildfires.
They've had a lot of serious damage.
They have not had a great response from the federal government so far, from what I'm hearing, that there isn't a great amount of debris clearance.
There's not a lot of money yet coming in there.
