If the reason for that is that Washington state is governed by Democrats and that Seattle is governed by socialists or whatever, that's really not a good reason.
And the people who are going to be hurt by that are actually the Trump voters on the eastern side of the mountains.
So
This really can't be about partisan labels.
And I'm as partisan as anybody when it comes to the big national issues, international issues.
But what I've really learned since the fire is that you have to take the D's and the R's and just throw them away when it comes to rebuilding your community because it doesn't help anybody.
The only way it helps is if people can use their political connections in instrumental ways to help the community.
So I have Democrats coming to me saying, Hey, can you talk
Talk to your friends in the Republican caucus in the Senate.
Can you talk to the White House?
Can you talk to the media?
I was on Fox Business today talking about it.
And people are asking me that.
I asked Democratic friends when there are issues that arise, can you talk to Democratic officials about this?
Can you get us a meeting with a Democratic congressman who might not meet with me, but maybe they'll meet with you and talk about this issue?
So
You learn to use political connections on either side to benefit your community and you have to do that.
You respect each other's political identities, each other's broader political beliefs, but you work together in that way.
And I think that's how things need to happen locally.
